UPDATE: El Dorado Schools Superintendent to Retire

UPDATE: Jim Tucker has been named Superintendent of the El Dorado School District. He'll start July 1st.

Deputy Superintendent, Jim Tucker has been named as the new Superintendent by unanimous vote from the El Dorado School Board.  

The School Board approved a three-year contract for Tucker with an annual salary and travel expenses at $136,000. 

Like Watson, Tucker has worn several hats during his time with El Dorado schools including principal at El Dorado High School and Retta Brown Elementary, as well as Deputy Superintendent since July 1st of last year.

Tucker has a bachelor’s degree from Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia and a master’s degree in education administration degree from Texas A&M.

He starts July 1, 2014.

El Dorado -- A familiar face in the El Dorado school district is saying goodbye.

Superintendent Bob Watson will step down after more than 30 years on the job.

In that time Watson has overseen various changes to El Dorado public schools, including the construction of the new El Dorado High School.

Since moving to El Dorado from West Virginia, Watson’s had several roles including coach, teacher, principle, and of course superintendent. 

He’ll step down June 30th.
