UPDATE: 17-year-old Arrested in Connection with Friday Night's Shooting in Madison Parish

Police say a fight after a school fundraiser led to the shooting.

UPDATE:  March 9th  6:00 p.m.

Police have arrested 17-year-old Levecion "Vinnie" Williams of Tallulah in connection with Friday night’s shooting outside the Madison Parish High School.

According to the Madison Parish Sheriff’s Office, a fight broke out as a fundraising dance for the high school’s baseball team was ending.  The fight took place outside of the view of deputies who were there to monitor the dance. 

After the dance ended, authorities say most of the students exited through the front door, while a few continued the fight behind the school.

During the fight, police say Williams shot the 16-year-old victim in the arm.

He’s being charged with attempted 2nd degree murder and is being held at the Madison Parish Jail.  

MADISON PARISH -- The Madison Journal is reporting of a shooting that happened last night after a school function at Madison Parish High School.

According to the newspaper, one person was injured after being grazed by a bullet in the arm. 

The paper reports one person is in custody of the Madison Parish Sheriff's Department this morning. 

No names have been released.

Officials with the Madison Parish Sheriff's Office could not release any more details when called Saturday.
