Unrestrained Driver Killed in Franklin Parish

On Friday afternoon, State Police responded to a single vehicle fatal crash in Franklin Parish.
FRANKLIN PARISH -- On Friday afternoon, State Police responded to a single vehicle fatal crash in Franklin Parish.

State Police say it happened at 4:16 p.m. on Union Church Road west of Louisiana Highway 17.
 
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 1993 GMC Yukon, driven by 64-year-old Emmitt Davis of Rayville, was traveling west on Union Church Road when it traveled off the right side of the road then back onto the road and across both lanes of travel. The GMC then traveled off the left side of the road, struck a culvert and rolled over.
 
Police said Davis was not wearing his seat belt. Davis suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced dead on the scene by the Franklin Parish Coroner’s Office.
 
Impairment on the part of Davis is unknown. A toxicology sample was taken and submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.
 
Troop F has investigated 5 fatal crashes which have resulted in 5 deaths so far this year.
