Union Parish Man Charged With More Sex Crimes Against Children

Sexual abuse charges keep piling up against a Union Parish man who was first arrested in November.

UPDATE: UNION PARISH -- Sexual abuse charges keep piling up against a Union Parish man who was first arrested in November. 

The latest charges against 22-year-old Richard Wyatt Jr. of Farmerville include aggravated rape, indecent behavior with a juveniles, cruelty to juveniles, molestation of a juvenile, false imprisonment with a weapon, aggravated assault and sexual battery. His bond is set at more than 400-thousand dollars. 

Sheriff Dusty Gates his victims are boys and girls under the age of 10. 

Wyatt was first arrested in November for three counts of molestation of a juvenile and sexual battery. He has been in the Union Parish Detention Center ever since. 

“These new charges are the result of an ongoing investigation by detectives who have followed up on leads reported to the sheriff's office after his first arrest hit the media,” Gates said. 

Gates said Wyatt lived in a mobile home park south of Farmerville where all the victims lived. In some cases, parents had left their children with Wyatt for him to baby-sit. Others went to his residence to play video games or just to watch television, investigators reported.

UNION PARISH -- (UPSO) A Union Parish resident remains in the parish detention center for sexual related charges involving children ages 3, 4 and 5.

Richard Wyatt, 22, of 10219 Hwy. 15 South, Farmerville, is being held on a $140,000 bond on one count of oral sexual battery and three counts of molestation of a juvenile.

Sheriff Dusty Gates said Wyatt was arrested after family members filed a complaint with the sheriff’s office.

“He admitted responsibility for his actions,” Gates said. The sheriff says the case is still under investigation.

The complaint against Wyatt was filed Nov. 2 and he was arrested Nov. 6 after the children were interviewed, Gates said.
