Trucking Association Hosting Fishing Tournament to Benefit Tornado Victims

The Arkansas Fayetteville Shale Transporter Association (AFTA) announced today it will host the First Annual Disaster Relief Fishing Tournament on June 7 at Devils Fork Park on Greer’s Ferry Lake.

QUITMAN, AR –  The Arkansas Fayetteville Shale Transporter Association (AFTA) announced today it will host the First Annual Disaster Relief Fishing Tournament on June 7 at Devils Fork Park on Greer’s Ferry Lake.

Teams will launch their boats from Devils Fork Park at 6 am, with weigh-in is scheduled for 3 pm.  Teams compete for cash prizes, including a guaranteed payouts of $750 (first), $500 (second), $250 (third) and $100 (fourth-tenth).

The Disaster Relief Fishing Tournament was created by the AFTA to establish a fund that would offer financial assistance to the communities and families within the Fayetteville Shale Region after a natural disaster.  A portion of the proceeds from this year’s tournament will go to the victims of the April 27th tornados.

“Many people within the Fayetteville Shale Play, including some employees of AFTA member companies, were affected by the April 27th tornados,” said Charles Allshouse, Vice-President of AFTA.  “AFTA would like to be able to extend a helping hand to those residents and aid in their time of need.”

Registration is $100 per boat and information, as well as event sponsorship opportunities and complete event details, are available www.arkansasafta.com or the AFTA Facebook page at www.facebook.com/arkansasafta.  There is a “Big Bass” side pot of $25 per boat, which will be split (60% to the biggest fish and 40% to the second biggest fish).
