Suspected Car Thieves End Up In The Hospital

Two Monroe residents accused of stealing a pickup truck from West Monroe ended up in Lincoln General Hospital Saturday morning, one with a snake bite and the other with a possible heart attack.

UNION PARISH - Two Monroe residents accused of stealing a pickup truck from West Monroe ended up in Lincoln General Hospital Saturday morning, one with a snake bite and the other with a possible heart attack.

It all started when UPSO deputies received a call from Yak of Yak’s Produce around 9 a.m. Saturday.

The grocery store said a car was blocking their driveway. Deputies found that the car was stolen from West Monroe.

A few minutes later, a resident called her husband to say that a man was running across their yard.

Police say Joshua Redmond, was trying to flag cars down at the intersection of La. Hwy. 33 and Milliard Hill Road, between Farmerville and Ruston for an apparent snake bite.

Police determined that Redmond was responsible for the stolen car.

While still at that location, a woman drove up and told deputies she had just picked up a female who asked to be taken to Sterlington. Deputies arrested Sonya Bloomer and after being placed in a patrol unit, she complained of chest pains.

Both had to be taken by ambulance to Lincoln General Hospital in Ruston where they remain in stable condition.

Police add that warrants will be issued for their arrest in Union Parish for illegal possession of stolen things.

West Monroe police were called and that department sent an officer to the hospital
