Students Learn About Recycling

An environmental themed magic show taught local students about reducing, reusing, and recycling.
Dozens of local students learned more about how to protect the environment at a special show on Tuesday.

Steve Trash has returned to the Monroe area. His magic themed show, titled Rockin' Eco-Hero, was sponsored by local Keep America Beautiful affiliates.

The show is scheduled to tour four Ouachita Parish schools. Steve Trash says he teaches about environmental responsibility... how to reduce, reuse, and recycle.

"You take care of the natural world and it will take care of you," explained Steve Trash. "The entire show is made up of recycled stuff: reused, reclaimed, up-cycled you might even say."

The Rockin' Eco-Hero show is set to appear at two other local schools on Wednesday.

Keep Louisiana Beautiful paid for the Steve Trash appearances and will also use grant funds to plan future Great American Cleanup activities.

"Think about how advertisers work," said Trash. "They try to associate positive celebrities with the products they want to sell. what we're trying to do is associate those positive fun feelings with the environment."
