Strong Turnout for Monroe Community Meeting

Nearly 50 people gathered on Monroe’s south side Thursday evening for a neighborhood meeting.

Monroe Mayor Jamie Mayo hosted the gathering.

Several department heads were on hand as well allowing folks to voice concerns, and ask questions.

Police Chief Quentin Holmes says it was great to see so many show up for the meeting.

"We're definitely glad to see this many come out. we can hear their concerns. we also get the opportunity to update them on the various departments” said Chief Quentin Holmes.

Much of the meeting focused on economic development in the city.

City officials are also excited to complete the splash pad at the zoo in the coming months.
