Sewing for a Cause

A group of women in El Dorado, are sewing for a great cause.
El Dorado -- When you first walk into the room, you quickly notice spools of thread, bundles of fabric, and rows of ribbon.

At first glance it makes you wonder how all this came about.

“About 3 years ago, one of our sweet ladies here at the church saw on one of the sewing shows a ministry called, Dresses for Little Girls in Africa."

This prompted her to start a sewing ministry of her own in El Dorado, called Sewing for the Master.

"We found one of the classrooms in our building and set it up with sewing machines and cutting tables and surges. We then started meeting on Monday, regularly."

When these ladies meet on Monday's, their main mission is to sew dresses for less fortunate girls all across the world.

The ladies at Sewing for the Master send around 100 dresses every 2 months. They send them to countries such as Ethiopia, Cambodia, and even Haiti."

Meadows says the response the group gets back from the little girls, makes it that much more worthwhile.

"It's so amazing. We put the dresses in a plastic bag, with a little necklace, and a pair of panties, and with a card that says Jesus loves you and we do too. They are ecstatic. Some of these little girls have never had a dress before. Some of them are even proud of the plastic bag, because you know that's special."

The ministry has been doing so well that the ladies are now catering to little boys needs as well.

"We didn't want the little boys to be left out so we just recently started making little britches. That's what I'm doing online, finding some little inexpensive t-shirts to go along with the little britches."
