Second Teen Arrested, Charged with Attempted Murder After Shooting

Monroe Police have charged two teens with attempted murder.
UPDATE -- A second teen is behind bars after a weekend shooting in Monroe.

It happened around midnight on Saturday, April 12th. Investigators say several gunshots were fired during a dispute amongst several people. They say one shot was fired at the home of someone involved, and hit a person standing in the doorway. The victim was treated at a local hospital and released.

Another 16-year-old was arrested shortly after the shooting. Both teens are facing charges of attempted second degree murder.

(MONROE, LA) -- Sunday morning at midnight, Monroe Police responded to a reported shooting that occurred in the 300 Blk of Pershing Ave.  Investigation revealed that an ongoing dispute between juveniles has been occurring at this location.  As a result, a group of juveniles allegedly fired several guns shots at the home of the other juveniles involved in the ongoing dispute. 

The owner of the home (adult male) was struck one time to the jaw by gunfire while he stood in his doorway.  This victim was treated at a local hospital and released.  Monroe Police Detectives were able to establish a 16 year old male as a suspect in this case and arrested him for 1 count of Attempted 2nd Degree Murder. 

This suspect has been booked at Green Oaks Detention pending bond.  This investigation is ongoing.
