MONROE -- Salvation Army officers from across the region gathered in Monroe on Saturday for special disaster training.
Emergency disaster service officers met at the Monroe office for public information officer training.
In this eight hour session, Salvation Army officers learned effective communication during a disaster relief operation, which directors say is extremely important.
"We have a story to tell of the work that we're doing. We need to have somebody who's trained to be able to talk to the media, to be able to write up a media release, reports, to get the word out about what we're doing," said Thad Hicks with the SA Emergency Disaster Services.
Salvation Army officers from Louisiana and Mississippi attended the training.
The trainers even enlisted the help of KTVE, giving the officers an authentic interviewing experience.
