El Dorado -- El Dorado residents were up bright and early preparing for the 5k run and health fair.

"We want to reach out to the community and offer an event that's fun, but promotes good health."
The first event was the 5k run. or walk if you wanted to do it at a slower pace.

People of all ages participated. And the winner of the event was 17-year-old John fairris.
Fairris says events like this are important to him.
"It feels good to be able to have people look up and say; even though he has asthma it's not holding him back."

The oldest participant in the 5k was 60-year-old William Bates. He came in third place.

"It’s exhilarating. It's just a good feeling to know that you run and practice and try to watch what you eat and stay healthy."

"Exercise and healthy living is the theme today with great lakes solutions. After the 5k walk there is also an opportunity to get 1 on 1 advice with venders."

Inside vendors gave advice on how to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

People were able to get blood pressure taken, cholesterol readings and even jump some rope to see their heart rate.

The kids even got to take a picture with the Easter bunny.

This is the second year Great Lakes Solutions has hosted this event and they say they expect an even bigger turn out next year.
