Police Investigating Multiple Overnight Shootings In Monroe

Police say they responded to two separate attempted robbery calls that resulted in shootings Friday night.

MONROE – Police in Monroe responded to two separate Robbery/Shooting calls Friday night.

The first one occurred around 12:30 a.m. in the 2300 Blk of Grammont St. Police say the victim was walking alone on the railroad tracks when he was approached by an unidentified black male who produced a handgun and demanded money.

The victim was shot once in the lower left leg, after running away from the suspect.

He was treated for non-life threatening injuries and released from the hospital.

At 2:00 a.m. police responded to another Robbery/Shooting in the 100 Blk. of Stacy Drive.  Police say the victim was sitting in his car when 2-3 people demanded he get out at gun point.  After getting out of the car, the victim was shot once in the upper leg.  The suspects took cash, and his car keys, and fled on foot. He was also treated for non-life threatening injuries at a local hospital.

In both instances, police say the victims couldn’t provide a description of the suspects. Both cases are under investigation.
