MONROE -- The Ouachita Parish Police Jury is ready to spend about one-million dollars on new fire trucks.
Police jurors approved the purchase at a meeting Monday evening. President Shane Smiley says the new trucks will help fire fighters carry enough water to emergencies and may actually improve the fire department's rating.
Each truck will cost about 460-thousand dollars. They are expected to be bought and in-house this year.
