OPSO Searching for Escaped Inmate

Ouachita Parish Sheriff's deputies are on the hunt for a Richwood Correctional Center inmate who walked away from his work release job on Tuesday.
Monroe -- Ouachita Parish Sheriff's deputies are on the hunt for a Richwood Correctional Center inmate who walked away from his work release job on Tuesday.

Sheriff Jay Russell said 34-year-old James L. Banks, Jr. walked away from his job at a restaurant on River Landing in Monroe Tuesday evening. He was last seen between the hours of 5-10 p.m.

Banks, Jr. is described as a white male with brown eyes and a goatee. His last known address was in Raceland in Lafourche Parish.

Russell said Banks, Jr. was serving time for Possession of Cocaine. He is not considered armed nor dangerous.

Anyone with knowledge of his whereabouts us asked to call the sheriff's department at 318-329-1200.
