UPDATE: Monroe Robbery Suspects Caught

UPDATE 2/24:

Monroe Police Detectives arrested Dexstavious James, Andrew James, Mon Coleman, and Edwin Turner for the 2nd Degree Robbery that occurred on February 20th at 4th and Washington Street in Monroe.  

These subjects turned themselves in to detectives on Monday at the Monroe Police Department where they were taken into custody and booked at OCC in the above charges with bond set at $10,000.  

The suspects confirmed with detectives that this incident was the result of an ongoing dispute involving an ex-girlfriend. 

Quintrell Fletcher had previously been identified as a suspect by the victim but was later shown to not have involvement in this incident.

Monroe Police Detectives are continuing their investigation into the reported Robbery that occurred yesterday at Washington Ave. and N.4th St. 

Detectives say they have completed interviews and found that the victim and one of the suspects in this case are known to each other.  

Police say an ongoing dispute regarding a past relationship with a female the two have dated is the cause of the dispute.  
Detectives have confirmed that Dexstavious James along with Andrew James, Quintrell Fletcher, and a black male subject known only at this time as “Eddie Ray” were the suspects in the vehicle that ran into the victim vehicle and robbed the driver of his cell phone and cash.  

All suspects are from Monroe.  Arrest warrants for 2nd Degree Robbery has been obtained for the above subjects.  

Monroe Police are urging anyone with information about the identity of “Eddie Ray” or the whereabouts of the other suspects to contact the Monroe Police Department at 318-329-2600 attention Det. Jeremy Kent or Crimestoppers at 318-388-2274 (CASH).  

The victim is recovering from is injuries and has been released from the hospital.  

Monroe Police say they wish to commend the witnesses who stayed at the scene and met with police which led to a quick resolution to this case.  

The photo of the suspect vehicle was taken by a witness at the scene with a cell phone and was invaluable evidence.

MONROE, LA - Around noon Thursday, Monroe Police responded to a reported robbery that occurred at the corner of 4th and Washington St.  The initial investigation showed that the adult male victim was alone in his vehicle waiting at the red light at the intersection when a White Nissan Ultima impacted the rear of his vehicle.  The occupants of this vehicle, described as four adult African American males, got out of the Nissan, approached the victim and forcibly removed him from his car. The four suspects battered the victim by striking him on his head several times. During the attack, the suspects removed the victim’s wallet and other property.  

The four suspects then fled the area in the suspect vehicle.  The victim’s vehicle rolled forward after the victim was removed and struck two vehicles that were parked at the scene.  No persons in these vehicles were injured.  

The victim is being transported to a local hospital with what is being described as moderate injuries at this time.  Monroe Detectives are on scene investigating and interviewing witnesses.  More information will be made available as the investigation is ongoing.
