MONROE (UPDATE) -- Around 11 a.m. Wednesday morning, Monroe Police responded to a reported suspicious circumstance and possible assault report in the 300 block of Adams street. Responding officers found a large amount of blood on the street, at this location.

"The initial responding officers got to the scene and found evidence at the scene that led them to believe a possible homicide or some sort of assault had to have taken place based upon the confidential info they received," said Sgt. Mark johnson with the Monroe police.

Police say they received information that two men had been involved in an altercation sometime Tuesday night at the same location. Law enforcement searched the area and found Earl Wayne Jinor's body a block away from the blood.

"We did find the body of a black male that appeared to have been stabbed to death," said Johnson.

Police say Jinor, appears to have been stabbed in his chest a number of times.

Witnesses were located in the area and gave statements to Monroe detectives identifying Sherman Pratt, of Monroe, as a suspect. Based on tips provided to Crimestoppers of Ouachita, Pratt was found around 2 p.m. Wednesday in the area of 23rd and Adams streets and taken into custody.

He's now charged with 2nd degree homicide and is being held at OCC with bond set at $500,000. Police say an unknown argument between the two led to the stabbing. The investigation is ongoing.
