McAllister to Return to D.C. Following Recess; Family Remains Top Priority

Congressman Vance McAllister says he will be back in Washington D.C. next week following the Easter recess.
West Monroe -- Congressman Vance McAllister says he will be back in Washington D.C. next week following the Easter recess.

Rep. McAllister says he will spend the rest of his recess with his family in private.

McAllister issued his first statement to KTVE/KARD since last Monday when the video surfaced showing McAllister kissing a former staffer.

"The Congressman is with his wife and family for the remainder of the Easter Recess. That's his number one priority, and his scheduled events will be canceled this week. However, his DC and district offices are fully operational and will continue to be. The Congressman was elected to do a job, and he looks forward to returning to DC following the end of recess."

Two of the state's prominent Republicans, Governor Bobby Jindal and GOP Chairman Roger Villere have called for McAllister to resign. McAllister has said he has no plans to resign from office.
