Man Arrested After Falling Asleep in Someone's Driveway

A Sterlington man was booked into the Union Parish Detention Center Sunday evening after he fell asleep in his vehicle while parked in someone else’s driveway.
UNION PARISH (UPSO) -- A Sterlington man was booked into the Union Parish Detention Center Sunday evening after he fell asleep in his vehicle while parked in someone else’s driveway.

Adam R. Byrnside, 28,  of Farmerville, was booked for possession of marijuana, simple assault on a police officer, disturbing the peace by fighting and criminal trespassing. His bond had not been set Monday.

When deputies arrived at a residence of La. Hwy. 552 South in the eastern part of the parish they stated that two brothers were holding Byrnside on the ground because he had attempted to fight their parents.

When deputies tried to handcuff the suspect he pulled away from them and was not cooperative while being placed in a patrol unit.

The father had noticed that the suspect’s Hummer had been parked for some time at the end of a long driveway. The father and a son drove to the highway where Byrnside was spotted inside.

They told deputies that the suspect was cooperative until they mentioned that the sheriff’s office had been called at which time he became violent. The mother and another son had arrived on the scene and when Byrnside came toward the parents to sons tackled him until deputies arrived.

K-9 Horst did an open air search of the Hummer and gave a positive alert after which the deputies found a marijuana cigarette in an ashtray.

Byrnside told deputies that he was tired so he had stopped to take a nap.
