Lifeshare Holds Beach Bash Blood Drive

More than 50 people came out to donate blood at the Pecanland Park Mall on Saturday.

MONROE - The annual Lifeshare Beach Bash Blood Drive was in full swing Saturday at the Pacanland Park Mall.

Mall-goers are encouraged to spend a few minutes in the summer themed blood drive for a good cause.

Everyone who donates gets a free t-shirt, a coupon to Outback Steakhouse, and will be entered to win a $200.00 gift-card.

One blood donor told KTVE that he likes to give blood because he has a friend with sickle cell anemia and wants to give blood to help her and others like her.

"It’s a good feeling just to get out and donate blood to help someone out,” said blood donor Michael Johnson. “You don’t know how someone's day is going or whatever, so its always a good idea to come out and donate blood. It’s a good feeling."

Volunteers say they're close to reaching their goal, but there is still one more day to go.

Anyone who wants to donate blood can come to the mall from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday.
