The Grambling State University football team's decision last fall to forfeit a game against Jackson State could lead to lawsuit in court.
Jackson -- The Grambling State University football team's decision last fall to forfeit a game against Jackson State could lead to lawsuit in court.

According to the Associated Press, Jackson State wants to take GSU, the Southwestern Athletic Conference, or both to court to recover up to $600,000 because of the forfeit, which was Jackson State's homecoming game.

The AP is reporting that JSUhas been pushing the Mississippi attorney general's office for five months to pursue legal action.

JSU officials say losing homecoming game money has put the school's budget out of balance for the first time in years.

Ticket refunds accounted for about $475,000 of the estimated total.
