Hundreds Participate in 2nd Annual Run for the Red, White & Blue

People from across the Southwest came to Monroe for the Run for the Red, White & Blue.
There was a huge turnout for the second annual Run for the Red, White and Blue put on by the Chennault Aviation and Military Museum.

About 350 people showed up at the event Saturday morning that began with a 5K race and a 1K fun walk. Afterwards, there was a memorial honoring veterans and current duty military members.

One woman says she came all the way from Mississippi to participate in the patriotic event in memory of her grandmother who served in world war two.

"We lost her three years ago, and she was very patriotic," says Melanie Allen, who traveled from Mississippi. "She was in the army, stationed in South Carolina. She was just very special to us."

All of the proceeds from the run and events went toward the Chennault Aviation and Military Museum, which will be open Memorial Day for free tours.
