Heavy Police Patrol in South Arkansas this Holiday Weekend

Arkansas residents will be celebrating a special holiday this weekend.
EL DORADO -- The Fourth of July is one day away, and police say they will be in full force.

The Union County Sheriff’s Office tells us they will be working closely with the Arkansas State Police Department to keep the streets safe.

In 2012, there were 552 fatal crashes on Arkansas roadways.

Over 25 percent of those were caused by drunk drivers.

"We'll be out in full force. We'll have extra deputies out on patrol and we'll be looking for the usual things, drunk drivers, people that aren't wearing seatbelts, things of that nature," says Matthews.

Police say remember to fasten your seatbelt and do not text and drive.
