GSU Receives $50,000 for Scholarships

Grambling State University is receiving $50,000 to go toward scholarships for students.
Grambling -- Grambling State University is receiving $50,000 to go toward scholarships for students.

GSU won the money for finishing first in Allstate’s “Quotes for Education" contest.

Students, supporters and alumni had to vote online for Grambling to win.

GSU President Dr. Frank Pogue says this money will be a big help to current and future GSU students.

"The bottom line is that our students need any assistance they can get. But anytime you receive $50,000 targeted for scholarships is just exceptional" said Pogue.

The money comes through Allstate and the Tom Joyner foundation which raised $185,000 dollars this year for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

As part of that campaign, a separate $50,000 dollars was given to Grambling after students, alumni and supporters voted GSU as their favorite HBCU.
