BATON ROUGE (GSU Release) - With the retirement of long-time GSU President Dr. Frank Pogue, a presidential search committee has been established to find the university's next leader.
The Board of Supervisors for the University of Louisiana System launched a presidential search with the appointment of a search committee by Board Chair E. Gerald "T-Boy" Hebert and announcement of meeting dates.
The Grambling State University Presidential Search Committee will meet on the Grambling campus on Thursday, May 8.
"Having participated in multiple presidential searches in the past, I take my responsibility to form these two search committees very seriously. I believe these teams of Board, faculty, student, alumni, and community representatives will work hard to identify the best successors for Presidents Pogue and Webb," said Hebert.
The committee will hold its first meeting on campus to go over the search committee charge, approve a draft advertisement and tentative timeline, as well as conduct a public forum so faculty, staff, students, alumni, and community members can voice their desired qualifications for a new president.
All search committee meetings are open to the public.
Voting members of the Grambling Presidential Search Committee include UL System Board Members Andre Coudrain of Hammond, Edward Crawford, III of Shreveport, David Guidry of Natalbany, Board Chair E. Gerald "T-Boy" Hebert of Kenner, Student Member Davante Lewis (until June), Jimmy Long, Sr. of Natchitoches, Board Vice Chair Jimmie "Beau" Martin, Jr. of Cut Off, D. Wayne Parker of Choudrant, Mark Romero of Lafayette, and Winfred Sibille of Sunset.
Also serving as a voting member is Grambling Faculty Senate President Herbert Simmons.
Serving as advisory, non-voting members are Grambling National Alumni Association President Melissa Bickham, community representative Wilbert Ellis, community representative Mildred Gallot, and SGA President Erik Johnson.
UL System President Sandra Woodley will serve as the non-voting committee chair.
