Former New Orleans Mayor's Fate in the Hand of the Jury

The corruption case against former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin is the hands of jurors.
New Orleans -- (WDSU) The corruption case against former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin is the hands of jurors.

The jury was delivered lunch and began deliberations at about 1:30 p.m. Monday.

The jury broke for the day without a verdict at about 4:45 p.m. and will return to deliberations at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

They were given the case Monday afternoon after instructions by U.S. District Judge Helen Berrigan and closing arguments by prosecutors and the defense.

Federal prosecutors on Monday summed up their case for convicting former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin of corruption during his two terms as mayor -- a period that included the devastation of Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
