WINNFIELD (KTVE/KARD) --  A former Winnfield Animal Control Officer arrested earlier this year and charged with seven counts of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals has been sentenced in court.

Eva Wise, arrested back on February 28th, plead guilty to only one of the seven counts in court on May 27th.

That same day, the courts convicted her on that count and dismissed the other six. Wise was sentenced to two years and 110 days of hard labor in a Louisiana Department of Corrections facility.

The Winn Parish Sheriff's Office said the charges stem from October 2013.

Wise's arrest affidavit reads she abandoned the home she was renting on the 400 block of Highway 1229, leaving several dogs to starve to death.

According to the affidavit, the dogs found alive by the sheriff's office were so far gone they were euthanized by the Winnfield Animal Clinic at the house.
