St. James United Methodist Church at 700 South 6th Street, Monroe, invites church members and the public to a free concert featuring the award winning "A Cappella Choir" from Wiley College in Marshall, Texas on Sunday, February 23, 2014 at 4:00 PM. Wiley College is primarily, a liberal arts, residential, co-educational, baccalaureate degree-granting institution affiliated with The United Methodist Church. The "A Cappella Choir" under the direction of Stephen L. Hayes, the Director of Choral Music for Wiley College will perform for the First Annual Scholarship Fundraiser for St. James UMC. This scholarship will be given to a local student who will use it to attend Wiley College.

The A Cappella Choir was selected to perform at a Holiday Concert in December 2013 at the White House for the holiday guests touring the home. This was their second invitation. They first sang at the White House in 2011. Many other performances of the choir include singing at the Potter's House, a 300,000 member mega church in Dallas, performing in concert with two-time Grammy Award winner Rita Coolidge as part of the 25th Anniversary of the Wonderland of Lights Festival in downtown Marshall, Texas, and their spring tour each year.

Hayes, Director of the choir commented, "We are delighted to return to St. James. The pastor, the congregation, and the community are always so warm and gracious. The students are looking forward to performing and seeing so many of our friends in Monroe."

T. J. Stevenson, pastor of St. James stated, "We are excited to have the Wiley College "A Cappella Choir" come to Monroe and perform for us. We want everyone to come to this free concert and support our scholarship efforts. Wiley College is home to many people in this area and you won't want to miss this wonderful event. Businesses and individuals may support the scholarship fund by taking out an ad in our program booklet for the
concert.

The choir will also sing during the morning worship service at St. James UMC at 11 a.m. and recruiters will be on hand after the services to talk with potential students and their parents about attending Wiley College.
