Educators are Appreciated in South Arkansas

Thank you was the phrase many South Arkansas teachers heard this morning.
El Dorado-- New teachers were introduced and seasoned ones were honored for their hard work.

Arkansas Baptist College President, Dr. Fitz Hill, was the guest speaker at the Educator's Breakfast.

Fitz says his experiences living outside of the United States helped him appreciate the education system we have in place.

"There are so many people outside of the United States of America, who would love to have the opportunity that our students have, but they don't understand that perspective, and that's what I shared today. There is tremendous opportunity to make a difference," says Fitz.

He says his goal this morning was to encourage teachers as they head into a new year.

"Hopefully I've been able to encourage our teachers to get in the game, and make a difference, and reach out and touch those who sometimes feel left out," says Fitz.

Five local teachers were also honored for being selected as 2014 teachers of the year.
