WEST MONROE -- Folks in West Monroe helped our troops oversees by supporting their mothers at home.
The Blue Star Mothers were the recipients of proceeds from a dance held Friday evening at the West Monroe Convention Center.
The group is made up of mothers, whose children are currently serving in the military.
Sponsors of the event say they want to make folks aware of all the good things the Blue Star Mothers do for the armed forces at home.
"We want to thank the blue star mothers for doing what they do for the troops, and we just thought it was a great deal to support them," said sponsor Joe Shoemaker.
The Blue Star Mothers have over 6,000 members in 200 chapters across the U.S.
