Little Rock -- More than 100 candidates filed on the first day of the 2014 filing period, according to the Arkansas Secretary of State's office.

The filing period started at 12pm Monday with several candidates lining up.

State senator Cecile Bledsoe, R-Rogers, said she wanted to be first in line for her final run in the state senate.

"I've always filed on the first day, but never early enough to be the first one," Bledsoe says. "This time I was."

According to the Secretary of State, 136 candidates filed on Monday with 90 others previously qualifying by petition.

The total on day one is down from the 184 that filed in 2012.

Filing period continues through 12pm Monday March 3.
