The annual boxing event pits police and fire fighters against each other to raise money for a good cause.
MONROE (KTVE/KARD) - The 10th annual Battle of the Badges was a huge success Saturday in Monroe.

The annual boxing even pits police and fire fighters against one another in the ring for a good cause. The even draws participants from all over the region and even as far away as Florida.

Proceeds from the event go to Med-Camps, which sends kids with disabilities and chronic illnesses to a one-week summer camp.

Outside the Fant-Ewing Coliseum, the Monroe Police Department set up a recruitment station to attract potential employees.

"We're out here supporting the Battle of The Badges as well as getting some new prospects for our recruitment push to hire 20-25 cops by January 2015," said Detective Reginald Brown.  "We appreciate the Battle of The Badges for doing what they do and we're out here to support them."

Annually, The Battle of The Badges raises more than $30,000 for charity.
