Monroe -- The Northeast Louisiana Arts Council held its ArtsWorks 2014 award ceremony at the Masur Museum.

The annual event honors local artists and art supporters, for their contributions to the community.

"This is really a fun night to show appreciation what we do. Because everything that we do depends heavily on artists and volunteers and businesses coming together. This is a way to recognize everyone for their efforts" said Evelyn Stewart with Masur Museum.

Prior to the reception, an Artist’s Lecture with Alberto Rey was held.

Rey’s exhibit “Biological Regionalism, Monroe, Louisiana, United States,” remains at the Masur through Feb. 8.

The 2014 winners include:

• BART Award: Monroe/West Monroe Convention and Visitors Bureau for its long-term and broad support of area arts organizations and their missions.

• Edmund Williamson Award: Joli Livaudais for outstanding work in the photography art form, her support of area artists through exhibitions in her gallery and promotion of the Downtown Gallery Crawls.

• Volunteer of the Year: George Prince for outstanding service to Strauss Theatre Center through donation of his time and administrative talents to the Main Stage organization.
