Arkansas Lawmakers Begin Fiscal Session Monday

The Arkansas Legislature will meet for the first fiscal session of 2014 today.
Little Rock -- The Arkansas Legislature will meet for the first fiscal session of 2014 today.

One hot topic will be private option and whether lawmakers continue funding it.

The bill was voted into law last year with support from democrats and republicans.

It provides Arkansas with an alternative to Medicaid expansion in Obamacare.

It uses federal funds to purchase plans from private insurers instead.

If it doesn't pass, Govenor Mike Beebe says lawmakers will also have to find a way to fill the $89 million dollar federal funding gap.
