UPDATE: Mosquito Spraying Scheduled for Tonight in Ouachita Parish

More mosquito samples in Ouachita Parish have tested positive for West Nile Virus.
UPDATE: Ouachita Mosquito Abatement will conduct a round of spraying tonight for after a sample tested positive last week for West Nile Virus. 

The spraying is scheduled between 9 p.m and midnight. 

The pools that tested positive were located in the Sterlington area near Highway 2, the Garden District of Monroe, the D'Arbonne Hills area of West Monroe and near the Pine Hills subdivision in Calhoun.

WEST MONROE -- More mosquito samples in Ouachita Parish have tested positive for West Nile Virus.

Ouachita Mosquito Abatement officials say that five positive mosquito pools were collected.

The locations were in the Sterlington area near Highway 2, the Garden District of Monroe, the D'Arbonne Hills area of West Monroe and near the Pine Hills subdivision in Calhoun.

Mosquito abatement will conduct aerial spraying of these areas July 22nd and 24th.

You can help protect yourself by wearing long sleeved shirts, long pants and EPA approved repellant when working outdoors.
