Beebe Hopeful Private Option Continues in Arkansas

Little Rock -- Governor Mike Beebe said Friday while the Obama administration never specifically endorsed Arkansas' private option health care plan, he believes the feds want to see the program succeed.

Arkansas lawmakers return to the state capitol in Little Rock on Feb. 10 for the state's third fiscal session, the primary focus being on passing a balanced budget.

Reauthorizing the "private option" requires a 75 percent majority in both houses of the general assembly. The plan narrowly passed in April 2013.

"You've got a majority of the Republicans and a majority of the Democrats, that even though they may not like Obamacare, they like what they've done in the way of the private option," Beebe says.
