MONROE -- There were plenty of wagging tails at a Monroe Park Saturday.
"Bark in the Park" kicked off at Forsythe Park in Monroe Saturday morning.
The event hosted a 5K run for humans and a 1k Fun Walk for people with their pets, all to raise money for the Ouachita River Valley Animal League.
Proceeds go to the organization's efforts to continue building a network of foster parents taking care of stray animals until they find good homes.
"Helps low-income families with vet bills if they can't afford to have their dog helped after an accident, somebody hits it with a car or the dog has cancer," "Bark in the Park" Volunteer, Alicia Lahaie, said.
This was the 17th Annual "Bark in the Park."
Organizers said they've been helping animals in the community for the last 15 years.
