Armored Truck Guard Killed in Shooting in New Orleans

New Orleans police said an armored truck guard was killed in a shooting at a Chase Bank Wednesday morning.
New Orleans -- New Orleans police said an armored truck guard was killed in a shooting at a Chase Bank on Wednesday morning.

The shooting stemmed from an armed robbery outside of the bank involving three suspects robbing an armored vehicle as a guard was unloading money from the vehicle.

Police said the 45-year-old guard was approached by three men who shot and killed the guard. The trio fled after taking the money.

The vehicle the three fled in was found by police, according to an email from the New Orleans Police Department. However, the three men sought in the robbery haven't been located, police said.

When WDSU crews arrived at the scene where the SUV was discovered by police near the area of Adams and Green streets, the engine was still running. Police have set up a perimeter where the vehicle was found.

Police said the three men then fled in a second vehicle --a grey Hyundai. A partial number on the license plate was released on the vehicle sought by authorities -- 141654.

The three suspects were described by police as three African-American men, standing between 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall and wearing dark jackets and hooded sweatshirts. One of the men had possible dreadlocked style hair.
