Armed Robbery Investigation in Monroe

It happened Monday night at 9:30 in the area of Roy Dr. and Texas Ave.

Initial investigation revealed that the victim went to the above listed area to meet an unknown female he had met on social media when he was approached by two unknown subjects.

One of the subjects was armed with a rifle and the other subject was armed with a handgun.

The two subjects demanded the victim surrender his wallet and cell phone, which were given to the subjects.

The two suspects, described as two black males wearing unknown type clothing (no other description), fled the area on foot.

The victim was allegedly on the phone with a friend at the time of the incident and this friend came to the scene in an attempt to help the victim.

The friend of the victim stated that he heard 7-8 gunshots fired as the two suspects fled the scene.

No evidence of gunshots was found at the scene.

No one was injured during this incident.

The investigation is continuing.
