The Rayville, La., Air Evac Lifeteam base has been selected as the company’s 2013 National Community Service Base of the Year.

Program Director Olivia Caskey and crew members accepted the award at the national awards banquet on Saturday, September 21 in St. Charles, Mo.

The Community Service Base of the Year Award is presented to the base in the Air Evac Lifeteam system that has shown outstanding community service in its market area.

“Since its inception, the Rayville base hit the ground running,” said John Markham, director of business development and specialty services. “The employees have been involved in every community education opportunity that has come their way. This past year, the Rayville base has attended a summer camp for under-privileged children, and visited Vacation Bible schools. The crews also participated in the local Public Safety Expo, which brings 1500 people to Monroe Civic Center to raise awareness for emergency services and emergency medicine.

“In the last year, Rayville hosted 52 outreach education courses ranging from landing zone classes to CPR courses,” Markham added. “It has been quite impressive how they have been there for each one of their communities when called upon.”

The Rayville base, located at 266 Highway 3048, began operations in June 2011.
