St. Joseph -- The St. Joseph water distribution system is getting a $6 million investment over 5-year period for upgrades.

Gov. Jindal made the announcement today during a visit to St. Joseph.

“Water infrastructure investments are vital to improving the quality of life for our people in Tensas Parish, as well as helping to support economic development. This funding will replace water lines and the water tank here in St. Joseph and ensure our people have safe sources of local water. Infrastructure improvements like these repairs also make this area more attractive to businesses who want to invest in our state.”

The current water system in St. Joseph is in need of major repair and costs the parish approximately $100,000 annually to maintain.

Jindal says the repairs and upgrades will help make sure residents have safe drinking water and could help area businesses and job growth.
