56 County Judges Endorse Mike Ross for Governor, Hutchinson Camp Responds

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR -- Gubernatorial candidate Mike Ross says he has received support from 56 county judges in Arkansas, but opposing candidate Asa Hutchinson's camp says that's no real surprise.

In a news release issued Friday, the Ross campaign says the group of 56 judges announced their endorsement at an event in North Little Rock. The judges say they endorse Ross "because he understands local government and will focus on policy, not politics," according to the news release.

Opposing candidate Asa Hutchinson's campaign manager responded to the endorsement announcement with the following statement:

“It is no surprise that Democratic County Judges would endorse Mike Ross for Governor, especially with the lack of a Democratic primary. This is expected and quite frankly fairly standard for unopposed primary candidates to receive endorsements from their own party. However, what is surprising and newsworthy is that Mike Ross is not getting the endorsement of ALL of the Democratic County Judges. The question that should be asked is why some of the Democratic County Judges declined to endorse Mike Ross’ campaign for Governor and their reasons why.”
