Baton Rouge --Coming off its 11th SEC Tournament crown and fifth in seven seasons, the LSU baseball team earned a No. 8 national seed and will play host to Southeastern Louisiana in the opening game of the 2014 NCAA Regional on Friday at Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field.
The Tigers and Lions will meet at 2 p.m. CT on Friday, and live video of the game will be streamed on ESPN3.com (no over-the-air television).
The University of Houston and Bryant University will meet in game 2 of the Baton Rouge Regional at 7 p.m. CT, also on ESPN3.com.
Riding an eight-game winning streak into NCAA postseason play, LSU (44-14-1) improved its position dramatically over the past three weeks. The Tigers went from the host "bubble" to a national seed with the opportunity to play at home throughout the road to Omaha.
The NCAA Baseball Tournament consists of 16 four-team, double-elimination Regionals to be played at campus sites from May 30 through June 2. The 16 winners advance to best-of-three Super Regional series from June 6-9, typically played at the home of the higher-seeded team. The eight winners advance to the double-elimination College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska, starting June 14.
