Grambling -- Grambling State University Interim President Dr. Cynthia Warrick's first day on the job has led to a shakeup inside the Athletics Department.

According to KTVE 10 Sports, Athletics Director, Aaron James, has been relieved of duties. James, a member of the GSU Sports Legend Hall of Fame and a 2012 inductee of the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame, was interim A.D. in 2011 and was named to the position permanently last August.

When asked for comment on the changes Dr. Warrick issued this statement.

“My primary focus as Interim President is to move Grambling State University to a competitive position of excellence at every level. I have started the process of making several strategic changes in my administrative team, which is a customary practice in transitions such as this. The significant challenges facing Grambling make these decisions even more important, and I am committed to assembling the best talent possible in order to move the University forward.”

Also let go was Joseph Price, head coach of the men's basketball team.
