Louisiana restaurant refuses to air Saints game after players protest National Anthem

WOW Cafe & Wingery in Chalmette doesn't show Saints game Sunday

CHALMETTE, La. (KTVE) - After several Saints players sat on the bench or knelt during Sunday's National Anthem before the game against the Panthers, one south Louisiana restaurant decided not to play the game on TV.

WOW Cafe & Wingery of St. Bernard in Chalmette, LA posted the following on Facebook: "I apologize to all of our guests but we will not be viewing the Saints game today in house. Some of our local players chose to sit during the National Anthem, which will not be supported or praised at WOW. Again, we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Thank you."

A restaurant manager told The New Orleans Advocate that the gesture by the Saints was disrespectful to the United States, and that the restaurant would continue to boycott the game “any time the Saints kneel.”

All the actions by NFL players and owners this weekend was amid criticism from President Trump who slammed players opting to protest during the national anthem.
