In what could only be describe as an upset victory, West Monroe businessman Vance McAllister, defeated the more widely known Neil Riser in the 5th Congressional District special election.
McAllister won or tied in 14 of the parishes that make up the 5th Congressional District.
In the parishes that saw the most votes cast, Ouachita, Rapides and Lincoln, McAllister won well over 28 thousand votes.
Turnout for the special election was low, just under 19 percent.
There are 481 thousand qualified voters in the 5th Congressional District, but only 91,286 voters took part.
And Louisiana Lt. Governor Jay Dardenne has launched a new political website.
Dardenne, who has told KTVE/KARD in the past that he'll likely be a candidate for Governor in 2015, is in his first term as Lt. Governor.
The website allows users to signup for updates, volunteer information, and even has a countdown clock to the 2015 Louisiana Gubernatorial race.
And in case you were wondering, that race is still over 700 days away.
