West Monroe -- An endorsement for Maness, Riser in the lead and Landrieu hanging on.

Republican Senatorial candidate Rob Maness has picked up the endorsement of Sarah Palin.

Maness is trying to unseat incumbent Senator Mary Landrieu.

In pledging her support, Palin called Maness a true conservative and someone that will fight for Louisiana in the U.S. Senate.

Meanwhile, a poll from Southern Media and Opinion Research shows Senator Landrieu leading the Republican field with 36 percent.

Congressman Bill Cassidy is close behind at 35 percent. Rob Maness and State Representative Paul Hollis poll at 7 and 4 percent.

In the first poll conducted and released publicly since Congressman Vance McAllister announced he would not seek re-election, state Sen. Neil Riser, who lost to McAllister in last year’s special election runoff, appears to have a statistical edge.

Riser polled 48 percent over seven other potential candidates in a 503-sample automated poll by The Glascock Group.
Monroe Mayor Jamie Mayo finished second in the poll.
