West Monroe -- Congressman Cassidy leads Senator Landrieu in a new poll, a win for Senator Vitter, and a split on the Farm Bill vote.

In a new poll out today, Congressman Bill Cassidy leads incumbent Senator Mary Landrieu 445 to 40%.
The Rasmussen Reports' poll surveyed 500 likely Louisiana voters. Five percent of those surveyed liked a different candidate, while 11 percent were undecided. Rob Maness and Paul Hollis are also challenging Landrieu.

The House approved farm bill contains an amendment that would bar food stamp payments to convicted murderers, rapists, and pedophiles. Sen. David Vitter is the author of the amendment and says taxpayers shouldn't foot bill and provide food stamps to those that have committed serious crimes.

Speaking of the farm bill, it wasn't a unanimous vote by Louisiana's House delegation.
Republican Congressmen Vance McAllister, Charles Boustany, and Bill Cassidy joined with Democratic Congressman Cedric Richmond to vote in favor of the bill. Republican Congressmen John Fleming and Steve Scalise voted against it.
