Update: Two Children Injured in House Fire Recovering Well

UPDATE: Family says two boys are doing much better. Boys are awake and responsive, according to the family. One relative says they are both asking to see everyone and requesting popsicles.

A donation fund has been set up for the family at First Bank in Junction City under the names Jamie Allen and Kieth Pennington. The family says donations will go toward helping them replace all of the lost material items and help with the boys medical expenses.

Spearsville -- A Spearsville family awoke Sunday morning to smoke and flames destroying their house on Pilgrims Rest Church Road.

A relative, speaking for the family, says she was in shock and very concerned when she was told about the fire.

Barbara Dison, a relative of family, says,"Scary. I was scared."

The residents were able to get out safely, but could not find the two young family members who were staying the night. The family says they did everything they could to get the boys to safety.

"He had went back in there four times trying to get them out and he had to throw them out of the kitchen window to get them out," says Dison of her nephew, the owner of the house.

The Spearsville Fire Department says emotions were running high when they arrived to the scene of the burning house.

Fire Chief Tim Clement says,"The family was all out over here except for the husband. He was attempting to fight the fire with a water hose, and he was doing well to slow it down. They are all worried about the two little boys and it was a pretty somber moment at the time."

The residents of the house say they gave the boys CPR until they could be airlifted to the hospital in Shreveport. The family says the doctors feel hopeful that the boys will be alright.

The fire department says all of the belongings inside the house are destroyed, but they are thankful everyone got out alive.

The family says they are grateful for all the help from the community and donations are being collected to replace all of the lost items.

"Just anything would help," says Dison, who is accepting donations for the family at her house on 618 Green LP, Spearsville, LA.
