Tornado Confirmed in North Louisiana

DOWNSVILLE, LA -- On Sunday, a team of surveyors from the Shreveport National Weather Service toured the damage in Union Parish. They confirmed that an EF-1 tornado touched down on Saturday afternoon near Downsville, Louisiana. They estimated the tornado had a peak wind of 88 mph and was about 75 yards wide. 

Surveyors report the path traveled by the twister's path was short and the touchdown was short-lived. The tornado began at around 3:43pm, about 2 miles northeast of Downsville. And then it traveled one mile to the northeast before ending around 3:45pm. The National Weather Service reported it caused damage to several trees and a barn. No injuries have been reported with this tornado.

The National Weather Service says that the information is preliminary and is subject to change pending final review of the event.
